Dendrocoelopsis vaginata, D. piriformis, and D. americana are described in detail. The taxonomic significance of multiple eyes in freshwater triclads is discussed. متن کاملIntegrative taxonomy of a new species of planarian from the Lake Ohrid basin, including an analysis of biogeographical patterns in freshwater triclads from the Ohrid region (Platyhelminthes, Tricladida, Dugesiidae)
A new species of the genus Dugesia is described from the Lake Ohrid region in the western part of the Balkan Peninsula, forming the first fully documented species description for this genus in the Ohrid area. The morphological species delimitation is supported by complementary molecular, karyological, and cytogenetic data available from the literature. Therefore, species delineation is based on...
متن کاملMolecular Phylogeography and Species Discrimination of Freshwater Cladophora (Cladophorales, Chlorophyta) in North America
Cladophora is a widespread freshwater filamentous cholorophyte genus and is frequently observed in eutrophic waters where it can produce large nuisance blooms. These blooms can have direct impacts on water intake for power generation, irrigation canals and can be aesthetically unpleasant. Much of the ecological and physiological studies on Cladophora have assumed that the populations of this ge...

متن کاملCotton Rats and House Sparrows as Hosts for North and South American Strains of Eastern Equine Encephalitis Virus
Eastern equine encephalitis virus (EEEV; family Togaviridae, genus Alphavirus) is an arbovirus that causes severe disease in humans in North America and in equids throughout the Americas. The enzootic transmission cycle of EEEV in North America involves passerine birds and the ornithophilic mosquito vector, Culiseta melanura, in freshwater swamp habitats. However, the ecology of EEEV in South A...
